Tawana Allen
Tawana Allen understands the business of doing business. With more than twenty years of experience in Finance and Operations, Ms. Allen offers unique, energetic, detail-oriented expertise in building businesses and ensuring their financial health. From the Board Room to the warehouse floor, Ms. Allen is a creative problem solver who knows how to encourage healthy relationships among stakeholders and exploit modern technologies to drive effectiveness, efficiency, and long-term business success.
Ms. Allen has developed a solid understanding of the needs and challenges of small and large businesses alike. Her large business experience includes roles at Grainger, Target Corporation, Key Bank, Ford Motor Company and Kraft General Foods. As a consultant and entrepreneur, she has served as Chief Financial Officer for several small business enterprises, advising business executives and decision-makers in all major business endeavors, as well as providing comprehensive Accounting and Finance support. Her portfolio is unusually diverse, with clients in industries ranging from Restaurants to Real Estate to Information Technology Services.
Ms. Allen has a particular gift for identifying and exploiting opportunities for efficiency—in logistics, in the back office, and in improving workplace dynamics. This helps her clients to identify waste, cut costs, and improve the bottom line. At Walmart, for example, she created and lead a cross-functional team charged with developing a new store opening consolidation and logistics program. The program succeeded in streamlining the new store opening schedule by more efficiently shipping and delivering construction materials and inventory. Remarkably, it also substantially decreased the carbon footprint of deliveries made to new store openings across the country—results that were celebrated as both “lean and green.”
Ms. Allen holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, FL. She also holds an MBA with a concentration in Operations & Logistics Management from The Ohio State University.
